Harles and Ivy

Here is some fanart I have been wanting to do forever. Poison Ivy and Harley Quinn have been two of my favorite females in the history of TV. I used to watch Batman with my brothers when I was a kid and I only liked the baddies. Later, when I was older I was like- Batman was the coolest show! So I learned that Bruce Timm is a god of character design and so here I tried to capture some of his style. Urrgh I love Bruce Timm's crap so much.
Anyway, it is SO HOT today, and I did this all day with this hot computer on my lap. So I am miserable! I am going to stretch my legs and not be on my computer. Oooh maybe I'll take a shower.

Miku

Vocaloid fanart lol! Done foreverrrr. There are things I forgot but I don't care. It looks like she's pushing her hair, or her hand is resting on her hair.

Misty

I drew some more pokemans fanart. Still figuring out markers and blending. I like it except for her baby arm. Maybe I'll get a chance to scan these some time.

Anime

When I was in high school, I only drew anime. All day and night, anime, anime, anime. I was like super die-hard and I thought anime was so intelligent and the pinnacle of animation and just the coolest thing in the world.
Now I am 22 and do not draw anime, I don't watch it anymore, and going back and trying to draw it is so hard!
So why did I draw this...
Well, every year I go to JAFAX, a free anime con at GVSU, and this year I got a table at the artist alley. That means I get to sell some prints, do some commissions and make a quick buck (hopefully).
I know everybody there is an anime fan, so I thought I would brush up on my anime skills just in case nobody liked my non-anime drawings. This drawing is actually payment for my table. I guess they collect a piece from all of the artists in the artist alley and have some sort of silent auction or give them away as prizes or something.
I am not liking the colors I chose out and want to re-do it but using markers is so time consuming.
I am hoping I can do some marker or colored pencil commissions while I am at Jafax and the time it took me to do this is kind of giving me an estimate of about how much I should be charging. This actually took me a long time and I am not sure how I feel about the way it turned out.
Anyway, hopefully I will turn a profit this year and have a great time living in nostalgia like I do every year.

Doodles and Jafax and Loneliness!

Phewww I have been a busy bee. I am getting my prints and shrinky dink keychains ready to sell at JAFAX and it is getting so close, it's scary. I have also been applying for jobs left and right with no results yet! Well, I have my fingers crossed for a few awesome places so I hope it is working out. Here are a few things I've been drawing lately since I haven't posted in a while:

This is a print I just started of Hatsune Miku from the Vocaloid software. I am suspecting this will be my most popular print. I have never drawn her before but I love all the Vocaloid characters and I love all of the turquoise since it's a color I never use.

This is just a doodle I drew at Borics while my manlove was getting his hair cut. I ripped the pose off of a model in a poster while I was there. Anyway, I like how it turned out, and my boyfriend's hair looked really good too.

This is a robo-cyborg-gynoid girl inspired by Hajime Sorayama. I am going to go over this in prisma colored pencils and make this my table fee art for Jafax. Hajime Sorayama doesn't draw anime so I don't know how much it'll be appreciated, but I love his art and the theme for Jafax this year is mecha/robots so it is related kind of.

Finally this is a super fail drawing of Rei Ayanami with no reference. It looks like... her neck is broken and she is trying to walk. Blargh but I still like it even though I hate it. Fickle!

Anyway, what else is new? I am totes magotes obsessed with Glee right now, I can't get enough of it. I am not feeling very smart of clever or good at writing right now, otherwise I would describe in detail what it is I love about the show so much.

I am dying to meet new people. Sometimes when I am playing The Sims at home alone, my Sim (who is also kind of lonely because she is raising five children) will have a desire to "Meet Someone New" and that is how I feel in real life. I also want to hang out with people I know. I feel like I never have time. When I come to Holland, it's usually just to hang out with my parents or Case's parents and we don't get to do anything actually fun. We went swimming last time and I ran into Tia (check out her cool blog here) and I never got a chance to hang out with her while I was in town which was a major bummer! Anyway, living in Grand Rapids is getting me down, and one of my GR BFFs and roomie is moving to Texas for a month so I am just feeling lonesome for friends. OH WELL.

I gotta draw more more more.

My pokemons...

Coloreddddd

Gotta Ketchum All

I'm getting ready for Jafax in June, where I am going to sell some prints and commissions and little Sculpy charms, so I just thought I'd post my Ash Ketchum sketch. I've gotta color it and fix some crap but so far I like it! Not as much as this, though:

Ps: Thank you to ThePropagation3 on Deviantart for posting his awesome stock photography. I did reference this pose to draw my fanart:

Kick Ass

I saw Kick Ass just a little bit ago with my awesome boyfriend and I think it's safe to say that we both enjoyed it thoroughly. I think I liked it more than he did because I am more easily satisfied at the movie theater than he is. Anyway, I loved it, and I loved Hit Girl, but I am a little disturbed by kids murdering people. I didn't expect it to be as violent as it was, but I like violent movies so I was not disappointed. I wont say any more about the movie as to not ruin it for anybody who might stumble across my blog.
Anyway, like I said, I loved Hit Girl so I quick did a doodle of her character when I got home. I think I am slowly but surely getting over my art slump but I still am not liking anything I draw. I guess it's kind of like writer's block. I wish I could just draw something I liked. I am increasingly frustrated.
Anyway loved Kick Ass. Now I can't wait to go see Iron Man 2.

Slightly less fail art!

So I've been trying to get over my art fail streak by doodling in my sketchbook instead of in photoshop, so here is a couple HTTYD pencil sketches, Hiccup and Asterid. Ffffffffffart, I wish I had a scanner but these are nothing special so it doesn't matter. I will definitely be drawing more and maybe I will be able to finally upload something decent!

Anyway, I am going to go see Kick Ass right now and I hope it is as awesome as everybody says.

Fail Art

Blarghh I am having the worst time drawing lately. Totally on a fail streak. I think it's being out of school and not having any motivation. I could make excuses forever but instead of complaining I'll talk about How To Train Your Dragon instead.

Like everybody else in the whole world, I LOVED How To Train Your Dragon. LOVED LOVED LOVED IT. I want to go see it again but I'll probably wait until it's in the cheap theater because I'm poor. Anyway, there were so many things I loved about the movie that had nothing to do with the plot or animation or script or acting or anything, especially the character designs. Actually, Hiccup was my favorite designed character of the decade and for the tiniest most insignificant reason.

See it? No? Not yet?

See it now?! Omgeez. That scar. That is so brilliant. I wish I thought of that. There is so much intrigue. It's so appropriate and logical. He lives on a viking island that is attacked by dragons, there are a million and one reasons why he could have that scar. It is so perfect. Nobody will ever understand how brilliant I think that was. I was spasm-ing throughout the entire movie because of it. BRILLIANT.

Tegaki

I made this Tegaki account last year, but I barely ever use it. Sometimes when I am in the mood to be nostalgic I go draw anime there. Shhh don't tell anybody that.
Anyway, if anybody wants to check it out, I have some silly doodles and anime crap there:
http://www.unowen.net/tegaki/dblog.php?u=74954
Nothing special!

Glasses girl

I got glasses this passed weekend and now all I want to do is draw glasses. So here, I doodled a girl with glasses and freckles and a yellow shirt. Wooaahh!
It's spring and every day has been beautiful lately, especially since school is out for summer. I can't believe that when it starts back up, I will only be a junior in college. I am 22! I want to be a senior! I want to graduate right now, man. Oh well, at least I have more time to putter around and draw girls wearing glasses.

Hi!

I have had this blogger account for DECADES and I am finally going to start using it. Expect to see frequent art updates and anecdotes about my life.
