Late night

It's almost 5AM and I'm working on Concept Art stuff. Also I took a break to chat with Carolyn and doodle this.
It started out as Scott Pilgrim fanart so that's why the eyes are monsters.

More Box stuff

Ahhh I fixed Cody's eyes a little and then I jumped right into color. Oh well, it's supposed to just be concept stuff so even this is looking a little too finished. I'm liking it though.

Action shot!

I am used to only drawing people standing around and looking sexy. Even though there is much wrong with this so far I am liking it. They're like "Yeahhhh! Explosions!"
I'm still working on Cody's terrifying face and Yula's three-fingered hand and anorexic arm.

Here it is in-context. This drawing of the kids running is for the box cover. After I get all the line-art kinked out, I get to go through and add really dimensional, soft, toy-like shading and other box details.

Layering Layer Effects

Sometimes when one is pressed for time and up very late at night, they make some very questionable decisions about Bevel and Emboss that should never be made by anybody.
Crimes also committed here:
Stroke
Drop Shadow
Soft cell shading
Gradient Overlay

Bevel and Emboss is one of my least favorite layer styles in Photoshop but I went nuts with it here. Mmmmm don't judge me.

I have the internet.

Woah! I finally have the internet again. School has been in session. I have been severely neglecting all of my online responsibilities because of my no-internet, "dark days" period.Anyway, since school started and I haven't had the net, I was under the impression that I was getting a lot of drawing done, but you know what? That just was not the case. So, instead of posting like a million really good drawings here, I can only post some school work- which is what tricked me into thinking I was getting so much drawing done.

I will preface these drawings by telling you a little bit about the project. The point of the class and this project in general is to concept out a kind of children's educational merchandise. We could choose between a software/computer game, an iPad app, a workbook or flashcards. Well, I chose to concept out a computer game, and I have this entire complicated story worked out in my head and all of these complicated high budget ideas that would never get funding from any kind of real company ever. Ideas such as frequent, really high-quality animated cutscenes, witty writing and dialogue, complicated RPG style gameplay and so on and so forth.

Here is my premise: An educational, retro-futuristic, Pokemon-style RPG, presented in an isometric viewpoint with frequent animated cutscenes.

This is a color test I did of my hero and heroine and some of the aliens the would "battle". These colors aren't final, duh, I kind of suck at colors and these are driving me crazy.
From left to right:
Yula, a know-it-all space captain in training.
Cody, an intrepid Kirk-esque space captain in training.
Oli, kind of a bi-polar, flirty, Elmira Fudd type.
Rob, A show-offy, smarmy Prince-type.
Brain, A villainous floating telepathic brain with a coat.
Spider Rabbit, just is
Goopa, a slimy, drippy floating blob who is very concerning and motherly.

Anyway, this is all I've been doing, and I have so much more unfinished art for this project and it is driving me crazy. There is a bunch more info and picutres, and links to the other kids in my class here.

Pshooo.

Aside from school, I have also been working way too frequently. Actually, I have class in six hours, yikes, and then I go back to work, and I haven't slept yet, because I've been working on that project I just ranted about.
I guess I'll try now.

Sketchdumps

So I don't have the internet. It's OK. Well, I jones for it all the time. I just payed like $5 for a crappy Biggby coffee drink so I can use their internet. I guess one of the good things about not having the internet is that I am drawing more often. Above are some observational sketches I did this year. The first one is Case, my boyfriend, while he was sleeping. The top-right is a girl standing around when I went to the screen printing expo in Indianapolis. The bottom-right is my ex-roomie Ginny while she was driving me and Case home from the beach. I like them! If you click on the thumbnail it'll take you to Deviantart.

I think I uploaded this a while ago, but I just recently scanned it. This was an experiment with Prisma Markers. They are the nicest markers on the planet. I really wish I could afford them. Anyway, I did this a while ago and I still really like it so here it is again.

This here is just a mass of sketches that I've done so far this year and more recently since I do not have the internet. The ones I like best are the one of the woman leaning against the wall and the one of the space-mail girl.

Anyway. Pshoooo. I hope that Case and I can get internet in our new place soon. It would really be the bee's knees.
